Cheese, Glorious Cheese

Last night I made some of my girls' favorite foods. I think my oldest fell in love with me all over again! Cheeseburgers, baked beans and macaroni and cheee. I think my husband enjoyed it right much as well;-)
So today I'll share the Macaroni and Cheese recipe with you all. It is a Paula Deen recipe and uses the crock pot. It is soooooo good!

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1/2 stick butter, cut into pieces
2 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or you can add a bit more like I do)
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
1 (10 3/4 oz) can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk (2% works fine too)
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Boil the macaroni in a 2 qt sauce pan in plenty of water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. In same pan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts (this will look like a big glob of cheese). In crock pot, combine cheese/butter mixture and add the eggs, sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper and stir well. Then add drained macaroni and stir again. Set crock pot on low and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Now..I cook on high setting and its done in 1 1/2 hours. I stir often to break up that cheese glob.

My 8 year old sincerely thanks you for this recipe! Me too! Mac & cheese is her favorite, so we'll give this a try.

This looks delicious! I just couldn't tell my husband what was in it because he hates eggs and sour cream. Could your birds be robins? They lay blue eggs. They start out cute but they can turn mean. :)

Oh my goodness, I am suddenly hungry AND nostalgic. My daughter insists on the Mac & Cheese from a box, my granddaughter loves it from a can (YUK) but I still insist on the good old fashioned kind that I grew up with in Savannah, Ga (the same hometown of Paula). This recipe WILL find a place in my week!! It looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.

This sounds great! I've never seen a crock pot mac and cheese recipe, I bet the house smells wonderful by the time it's done!
