My Kitchen

Shannon, at www.thedavisfamilynwa.blogspot.com, is showing off her kitchen and asked for others to play along. This is probably my favorite room in my house. I spend most of my time in this room! I love the size of it...but I don't love having to clean it!

In the frame, is an autographed menu from The Lady and Sons restaurant. Jamie and Bobby Deen signed it!

And now...a recipe!
Remeber the Butter Pecan Cake recipe I posted, well this is a twist and I don't really have a name for it...Lets just call it Chocolate Surprise Cake:

1 cup milk
4 eggs
2/3 cup oil
1 can coconut pecan frosting
1 box german chocolate cake mix

Mix all ingredients together well..pour into a greased and flour tube pan. Bake in a preheated oven..350 degrees.. 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Let cool a few minutes then turn out onto plate. Let cake cool completely (or as long as you can wait)
Then...pour ganache over cake...

Chocolate Ganache
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Let cream come to a boil, add chocolate chips and whisk until smooth. Let it cool down some (almost room temp) then pour over cake!

This would be good with fresh whipped cream too!
Enjoy!

Alyce,
You have such a beautiful home. I love seeing pictures. I needed a dessert to take to our homegroup. I'm excited to try your cake. It sounds amazing. You inspire me to be a better homemaker. : )

Are you still wanting to work on your girls' library. I'm doing another Within One Week if you want to play along again.

: ) Becky

Whoooaaa! I -love- your kitchen! Our's (since we're in an apartment with an owner who refuses to update it) is stuck in the 80s. Our stove (as well as al our other appliances) might be about 30 years old, even.. but it still works, so I guess that's good!

Those cabinets are my favorite!

WOW!!! It is huge! I love it!! I'm so jealous you went to Lady and Sons! My mom went to the gift store last summer and put a T-shirt in my stocking at C-mas and I love it. Gorgeous kitchen!

Your kitchen is GORGEOUS! I wish mine was that big! :) Oh, and I want the Lady and Son's autographed menu!!! I guess I'll just have to go to Lady and Son's to get one, huh?

I can't wait to try to Strawberry Cake in her latest issue either...it looks fabulous!

So glad that I found a fellow Paula Deen lover!

Prayers and Blessings, Alyce!

Hi Alyce! It was nice to see your comment on my blog. It's always nice to have a new blog friend!

Your kitchen is awesome! I try to spend as little time as possible in my kitchen (this may have something to do with me being a bad cook!). I think if I had such a great kitchen as yours I'd try to be more of a holly homemaker!

Alyce!!!! You got an autographed menu!!! How FUN! Paula Deen and the boys grew up in our area...She's been a fave here for years. None of the three of them, though, were at the restaurant when we visited.

Your kitchen is beautiful..

So, if I give up my Diet Pepsi fix each day, can I trade it for a piece of your yummy cake?

It's totally low in calorie and guilt free right?

Love your kitchen!!!

Your kitchen looks so nice and neat! I would love to make that cake too to take to work this week for my birthday (50, but who's counting!)...we always bring treats to work for our birthdays, and that looks like a wonderful cake!
Blessings,
